BE A TESTER

I need 12 people with an Android phone.

Google won't let a new app onto the Play Store until 12 people install it and keep it for 14 days straight. That's the only thing standing between this app and the store. It costs you about two minutes.

I'm in — sign me up

Two boxes: your name and your Gmail. That's it.

Android only — sorry

If you're on an iPhone, Google won't count you. Nothing personal, it's their rule. You can still help by sending this to somebody who has an Android.

What happens next

  1. You put your name and Gmail in the form. Use the Gmail that's signed in on your Android phone.
  2. In a few days I email you one link. Tap it, tap "Become a tester," install the app. Two taps.
  3. Leave it on your phone for 14 days. You don't have to open it. You don't have to do anything.
  4. I email you when we're done. Keep it or delete it. Totally up to you.

What you'll never be asked for

  • Money — no card, no payment, nothing
  • Reviews, ratings, surveys or reports
  • Actually using it (though I hope you do)
  • Keeping it after the 14 days

All you need

  • An Android phone
  • A Gmail address on it
  • To not delete the app for two weeks

Straight answers

Is this going to cost me anything?

No. Not now, not later. The app is free.

Will it track me or sell my info?

It uses your location to show you on the map, same as any GPS app. It's not tied to an account because there are no accounts. Full details in the privacy policy below.

Do I have to write a review?

No. Google actually forbids me from asking testers for reviews.

What even is SkyDog GPS?

Topo and satellite maps for hunting land, trails, beaches and sled runs. Mark your spots, track your trip, export the GPX. Already on iPhone — this is to get it onto Android.

Can I quit partway through?

You can, but please don't. Dropping below 12 people restarts the whole 14 days for everyone. If you're not sure, better to say no now than bail on day 9.
